There are currently about 10,000 prestigious and non-prestigious festivals in the world, yet not many of them are approved by the Academy Awards.
Tehran short filmfest is the most important festival in the Middle East in terms of antiquity, the prestige of the organizers of the awards and the number of participants.
It has always had a high level in terms of jury members and also in terms of paying awards compared to many prestigious festivals in the world.
A limited number of countries in Asia and Middle East including Japan, South Korea, India, Singapore and Egypt have Oscar-qualifying film festivals.
Organized by IYCS, the festival is held to provide an opportunity for young filmmakers to exchange their experiences.
